How Many Fire and Smoke Alarms Does Your House Need?
Have you ever wondered just how many smoke and fire alarms you need in your house? It seems that many people out there do not have the right amount and some do not even have any at all. This is an alarming fact, especially since there are so many deaths that occur each year because of house fires.
You want to make sure that you and your family is safe from the dangers of fire so make sure that you are following all of the directions and tips that you receive regarding fire and smoke alarms. The more prepared you are to get out of the house, the better chance you will have of actually making it should the terrible tragedy of a house fire happen to you.
The first thing you want to do is to count how many rooms are in your home. This includes bedrooms and bathrooms. Once you have that number, you want to have at least that many fire alarms, including alarms for the attic and the basement if you have those areas as well. For living spaces that are extra large, such as large game rooms or family rooms, it would not hurt to have more than one alarm for that area.
The more alarms you have, the better chance you have at being alerted in time to get yourself and all of your family out of the house. Even if it seems as though you are going overboard, do not allow that to bother you. It is much better to have an overload of alarms, protecting your family, than having none at all because you do not like the way they look.
